Most of us don’t get near the prizes but we all love to run on the fells. New members are always welcome and membership is very cheap, but you don’t have to join the club to come out for a run. Check out our Introduction to Fell Running for more information on what to expect.

Where we run

From spring to autumn our social runs range across the southern fells from Eskdale to Windermere, and each year we pick a different set of local races for our road and fell championships. In the winter our social runs come a little lower down the fell – mostly – and someone will usually organise a longer run at the weekend. Fell shoes do very well in deep snow. We also organise a winter training league of Sunday morning fell, trail and cross-country chases.

Runs coming up

All in the calendar. One day I will work out how to embed it here.

Small print
Please note that while these events are all arranged by someone, they’re not ‘led’ or ‘organised’ in any formal sense. We follow the FRA guidelines on social runs:

Although a competent leader may be assigned, each runner is expected to be self-sufficient and able to look after themselves in the fells in all weather conditions on sometimes rough terrain. It is expected that attendees can self-navigate their way back to the start point on the chosen route. It is recommended that everyone carries minimum FRA clothing and safety kit.

Every social run has a nominated guide, who is supposed to know the way and very often does. They won’t be a licensed Run Leader in the strict sense, they’re not responsible for your survival and there is no insurance or any other kind of cover. You’re just out for a run in the fells with friends. Please see the requirements and responsibilities and make sure you have enough clothing and food to keep you going while someone peers at the map and decides which bump you are on.

We have runners of all ages, abilities and interests, from GB team members to the old donkey who is writing this page, and roughly equal numbers of men and women.…

["post-372","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
